Why is EVery FUCKing BUILD ALways LATE! AAARGH!

Unfortunately, this is your regularly scheduled service.

(Meanwhile, I left Charlie Bradshaw tied up in a horse barn near the tarack in Saratoga at the end of my workout today. Finding out what happened to him was the most exciting reason I had to go to the gym ....)

I think my reading has been slow, doubtlessly thanks to getting caught up in The Atrocity Archives, a Charlaine Harris book (Shakespeare's Champion), and Saratoga Swimmer. That said, I'm at page 142 of Finding Time Again, in which the narrator is discussing the way bombing raids make people unafraid of acting in keeping with their desires as they are no longer concerned about their reputations. That, I think, has not changed much over time.

I'm a bit worn out today but back at work, and my little fever of last night appears to have burnt itself right up.

This week: dinner with [livejournal.com profile] wechsler tonight, possibly again tomorrow (or maybe I'll get my hair done), Matthew Bourne's Portrait of Dorian Grey on Wednesday, then [livejournal.com profile] tonyawinter arrives Thursday for a week long visit. I'm excited!

I gave up on studying this morning and opened my hot new copy of Finding Time Again, the last novel in The Work. I'm up to page 7, and already he's complaining about his friends disappointing and talking about laying in his bed and looking out the window. Our Marcel, plus ca change.

And me, I am going to the gym now and bringing my lovely copy of Saratoga Trifecta with me. I wish I'd brought the Jo Clayton instead but she was crowded out of my bag by the book I've been studying for the exam I'm taking this afternoon. I'm also going to be interviewing someone at 2 PM. None of this really excites me though, you know? What I'm excited about is my books and the leaving bit today and the evening ahead of me. (That said, I'd also be excited if the final letter we need from the bank for our visa application were waiting at home, but I won't know until I get there. We're going to sign the papers this afternoon but the app still can't go out because we're missing one piece of paper. Bah and foo and grr and I can haz nap nao, plz.)

Well, I'm still dizzy, so I skipped the gym thing. It's not much and it doesn't seem to bother me when I'm sitting down, but I wouldn't like it to get worse while I'm on a machine, so I bagged on the gym and sat and ate my little lunch in the kitchen and finished reading "Saratoga Longshot," the very first Charlie Bradshaw mystery (by Stephen Dobyns). It's strange to think I read the first one of these in '87 and I'm only now getting around to this, the first in the series.

By the way, I had this same problem on Saturday. It's very irritating.
