Last night at Mandarin Gate was fun, of course, except for the part where we wasted the first half hour waiting for the frickin' basketball game to wrap up. Shadowdaddy and Moto were there for the whole evening. My set list was short thanks to the f'in game. "Cars," Gary Numan (2 minutes of outro, about 1 minute of singing, a good warm-up song anyway), "Love Her Madly" ("don't you sing it badly ..." - I think it was a different Doors song that I intended to do, maybe I'll remember before the next time I go), and "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" (well performed, well received, went over as I anticipated it would). Doubtlessly the highlight was Worthy O's "Does Anyone Really Know What Time It Is," the humorous irony of its content and performance causing me to burst into peals of laughter and get flipped off from stage. Oh well!

I don't want to come into work this weekend, it's Chinese New Years and I want to be in China Town doing the Wild Thing, which for me means eating Dim Sum and watching Lion Dancers. Is it too much to ask? And we're talking about having a contractor to come over to give us an idea about how much the work we want to have done would cost, too. (Or maybe the real lion dance thing is two Saturday's from now, for the Festival of Lights ... that's what the story on NPR this morning would lead me to believe. But I still want to go.)
