So I hear water dripping and splashing ...
and homeowner that I am, my body powers me up through the seven layers of sleep to a level of consciousness suitable to go check out the noise ...
which is because it's raining outside, and I'm not used to hearing it.

Cue twenty more minutes of consciousness.

Before the alarm went off, I was dreaming I'd been in an accident on a roller coaster in Disneyland, and the doctor there was trying to push off seeing me so he could avoid a lawsuit. I also dreamed about my grandma, which was pleasant (it's the only way we get to visit these days).

Best finish off breakfast and get out the door. My boss is back today, thank goodness. Will spend a bit of time on the phone with BT asking them why we still don't have a dial tone.

Have a feeling I'll be spending the evening looking at Argos's shelving options, which is depressing. I want this or these (would look good in the back bedroom!) or this cute kitchen cabinet but I'm not really enjoying shopping and I would just really like things to magically show up in my house so I can use them without the hassle of having to pick out from the ten million things available the one thing that I can both afford and tolerate.

*sigh*

Time to go back to cinder blocks and planks, really ...

(At least this post makes me feel good about the hood - gonna try the Thai place they recommended tonight.)

I thought I was shopping for furniture but somehow I wound up buying tickets for Die Tote Stadt, and without consulting J first. I am quite the naughty girl. And this was from an email campaign from the ROH so obviously I've got very little impulse control.

I also almost almost bought tickets for The Beggars Opera but since the first date I thought I could go is sold out, I was saved from my follly - I probably shouldn't be buying tickets for Britten operas after Billy Budd.

These are my first ticket purchases of the new year. Why is this more easily accomplished than buying furniture? And why have I lost my "joie du travail" this afternoon? Perhaps the answer is in the bottom of my next cup of tea.
