Who am I kidding?

I'm not going anywhere tonight. In acknowledgment of that fact, I gave shadowdaddy the car, in the hopes that maybe he'll get home earlier. Really, I just don't go see bands at nine on school nights, and while I can say, "Ooh, I'd love to go to karaoke," fact of the matter is that it's not going to happen, as I'd only go if someone invited me (and drove). I can't even get excited about the idea of having someone come over and play games. It seems like going nowhere is really the right thing for tonight.

In other news, I have proven I still have the knack to cook rice, though judging from the condition of my rice and pasta bins, I've been letting things sit for a long, long time. Good thing I'd bought a new bag of basmati rice recently. And thank you, madame_heather, for providing me with tonight's dinner, albeit inadvertently.

In other other news, my second Richard Morgan book picked up right as I was getting off the bus to go to the Y, and I'm pretty excited about it.

A perfect world

In a perfect world I'd still have the copy of the Eurythmics' Love is a Stranger album I bought back in 1983. And it woudn't be scratched. And I'd still have the thumpy speakers the size of small bookshelves I bought back in 1986 with my Pell Grant. And I could be singing along with it in my living room right now.

Hmm. That's pretty good. Maybe I'll try for something harder now.
