Er, yeah, so I slept in.

Am currently making power breakfast (which is both high protein and fast). Tasks include cleaning house, making final list of things to do, getting second stuffing together, and getting the turkey in the oven by one.

Yep. Time to rock and roll. I suspect today I'll listen to both the Matrix soundtrack and some vintage Queen.

A Settlers of Catan cartoonon [livejournal.com profile] wingedelf's blog and a link to a Sluggy Thanksgiving cartoon from [livejournal.com profile] wechsler - I feel as if I am being teased, yet ever so gently!

Also, a mere two minutes after my first (neurotic) post of the day, I got calls from three people in short order: [livejournal.com profile] butterbee, who I'm hoping to have over for dessert; Dave of DaveAndDeb, who will definitely be over for dessert tonight; and my sister, who was just calling to say Happy Thanksgiving and catch up. Gosh, how nice! Makes me think I should get serious about getting that bird in the oven.

Note to Santa: PLEASE somewhere find me a decent set of potholders that can actually handle moving an oven rack that's 500 degrees! And of course when I say decent I do mean PINK!

Q: Are you selfish?
A: This is about the "chef's special" stuffing I hide inside the bird, isn't it? I sure do like apples in my stuffing.
Q: Are you arrogant?
A: Is this about how I'm basically making up a vegetarian stuffing recipe, taking some inspiration from the flavor profile of a bread-based recipe and using a wild rice recipe for proportions but really just winging it?
Q: Can I come over?
A: Sure, but I'm still not giving you any of the Chef's Special stuffing.

FUCK! The turkey is done early! FUCK FUCK FUCK! POTATOES! GRAVY! YAM ALERT! WOOP WOOP WOOP!

SET THE TABLE, TROOPS!

The turkey is stripped, and most of the guests are gone. I had three dessert visitors and got in a game of Betrayal on House on the Hill with some of them and my more determined guests (Haunt was the Mummy; we intrepid explorers successfully dispatched it). Now I have the feeling the cold I woke up with this morning (and decided I was going to have to ignore) is about to kick my ass six ways to Saturday; I'm hoping it goes away overnight, but I'm so tired that I can't tell the difference between being sick and just being completely wiped. I'm looking forward to a lazy day tomorrow, though sadly [livejournal.com profile] shadowdaddy has to work; however this leaves me free to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] butterbee, so we'll go do something fun in the afternoon if I'm able to get out of bed.

Oh yeah, and my friend Nick is taking home three of my favorite albums to rip onto CD for me: the soundtrack to Xanadu, the soundtrack to The Point, and some Queen album (haven't decided which). I'm looking forward to listening to them more ... with our new receiver the sound from the record player is really quiet and I can't listen to them when I'm in the kitchen. And what's the point if I can't sing along to "Magic" when I'm doing the dishes?
