Jeez. Last night I skipped Saddest Music. Tonight I didn't even try to get into Travels with Charlie and stayed home and played Cities and Knights of Catan with my brother and sister in law (and [livejournal.com profile] shadowdaddy of course). What's wrong with me? And tomorrow I'm apparently going to see Spiderman, since I just bought tickets for the four of us and my sister and nephew. Christ, someone's going to come by and force me to hand over my PVC gown at this rate ... or I'll find myself watching TV before the weekend's out and then Armageddon will start. (Did you know I bought a new TV almost a month ago and haven't even plugged it in yet?)

We're getting a very slow start to cleaning the house. This can't be a surprise to anyone, but we did enjoy the poached eggs on crumpets I made for breakfast. I've just gone through a pile of clothes that had been sitting on the guest bed for six months. Good lord - when did I think I was going to ever use all of those black jackets? I imagine myself wearing them over turtlenecks to the law firm I was at seven years ago. What a horror. I can't even imagine any one in them any more, much less me, but perhaps at Goodwill they'll find an appropriate new home.

Meanwhile, the kitten (Pippen, now answering to PipPip) has been launching himself at and up every piece of upholstered furniture we own. He got a piece of masking tape I was using to clean the jackets stuck to his tail, and now he's chasing it around, but it somehow is always just a bit ahead of him. How could that keep happening?

Alright, upstairs to the bedroom where my nephew's going to stay ... it hasn't been clean since last summer, so it's probably about time it got done.

And yes, I'm just postponing the inevitable by writing this up.

My nephew is staying in our upstairs guest bedroom, a.k.a. "the library," three bookshelves, full, most of them double packed with books. So as he walks in he says to me:

"What am I supposed to do here for fun?"

Harumph! Kids these days!
