Queer Eye for the Straight Guy at R Place

( In which I whine about people who don't like me... )

At 8 I headed over to R-Place to meet miss_villanelle and Rebecca (and later, to my surprise, motomotoyama) for "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." To my irritation, Bravo decided to change their schedule unannounced, and my first hour was pretty much wasted (although I did get to see the video for "Dirty," and it just makes me ask, do teenaged girls really think that orange skin and a whole lot of eyeliner is the sexy part of Christina/Brittany whatever she is?). But the show itself was a big laugh, and I loved being surrounded by a bar-full of people who were laughing at a lot of the unintentional humor. Yeah, it was funny to hear one of the "Fab Five" say that this week's token straight guy was "hung like a bee," but it was funnier to hear them laugh when TSG kissed one of the F5 on the cheek and then wiped his lips like it might have been catching. I think I can do this every week!

I'm sure I had something I wanted to complain about but I can't remember what it is, and I've got lots of work to do today so I'm going to hop to it. Lunch at 12:15 under the Aurora Bridge - who wants to join me?

Blogging in the New York Times again

Yep, the dudes running for president are keeping blogs. Results? Survey says ... (Oops, people surveyed fell asleep before they could tell me what they thought.)

Missed the show - planning for interview

I was supposed to see a concert tonight up in Laurelhurst (theorbo and countertenor, a very nice program), and then discovered as I headed out that the concert started at 7:30, not at 8, and I was missing the beginning already. How irritating. Worthy Opponent and I managed to amuse ourselves with pints at the Comet and a trip to Value Village, but it wasn't really very exciting. Right now I'm doing some research on the guy I'm interviewing tomorrow, Ben Rubin. He's a pretty interesting artist and I hope I can make my story snappy enough to get people to go see his show at Bumbershoot.

The Crying Game - the ending was SO obvious!

So sallysimpleton and I were making fun of a mutual friend who had fallen in love with some girl in South Africa he met on the internet. The pictures he had of her were so patently not of any real person, and as the story went of COURSE she needed him to wire her money so she could come visit him and then he realized what a FOOL he'd been making of himself.

Then I had the chance/misfortune to click on the link on inthismoment's journal to the "Trust Metrics" site, hit the LJ that was linked to from there, and suddenly -- time for a trip to England! Boy, that fella sure makes the British equivalent of a Dude Ranch look GOOD!
