I think the key is between understanding that all people will reject you - which isn't true and that some people will reject you - which is true. But as you say you can't get on with everyone. It's sad when frienships end but unfortuantely that's the nature of friendships in some ways. People change and grow and some don't and what used to work doesn't always work. But I don't think you should take this as a judgement of your worth, it's just the way people are. And some people are hateful and petty.
I understand the scanning the list to see who the other invites are. It's sad to be around people who don't like you. But you need to focus on the ones who do and who will be happy you made it. All I can say is that it does get easier with time. And you will always have friends :)
