Oh, the humanity!

I am currently testing a bug that we are taking out TO LIVE, AS A HOTFIX that only occurs if you have IE6 SP1.

We are all of the belief that the users should be grateful that we're pointing out to them what a security ridden piece of crap they have on their machines and that the proper FIX is to UPGRADE.

Ah well.

I've got a conditional comment (<!--[if lte IE 6]>) that shows up to IE6 users telling them it was replaced by IE7 in Oct 2006, and to upgrade to FF3 if they want it to work.

Nice, although only slightly BOFH- the full kit and caboodle would involve having it say "Because of IE6, a virus has infected your computer. Please delete all infected files in the Windows directory by clicking [here] and pressing shift-delete. Shift-delete tells your computer to only delete files that have been modified by viruses."

I know, I know, it's a bit long and doesn't quite engage dummy mode- I'm playing it safe though. I almost had a friend 'delimit' (del *.*) his documents directory before.

Maybe as my last day on the job....

And for that, notice isn't even required!
